On-line Courses Set June 1-5

You can learn more about the upcoming General Convention of the Episcopal Church during a free afternoon webcast Monday through Friday, June 1-5, on the campus of Seminary of the Southwest in Austin and at the Diocesan Center in Downtown Houston.
The Seminary is the only Austin area site that will stream the online course. The webcast can be seen in Room 259 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The course will be held in the Board Room at 1225 Texas Ave, Houston in the Diocesan Center.
The Episcopal Divinity School webcast – part of that seminary’s Online School – is designed to help new deputies and interested others learn about the governance of the Episcopal Church. EDS Professors Ed Rodman and Ian Douglas introduce viewers to the history of General Convention, the formal and informal processes and politics that inform its operation and the key personalities who provide leadership. Emphasis will be placed on the resolutions and reports published in the General Convention Blue Book with equal attention paid to issues and processes.
EDS is charging $150 per person for "General Convention Course: Online Access" but the Diocese of Texas is paying a group rate to show the course at the seminary, in Houston and other selected areas of the diocese. There is no need to register or pay anything to attend the webcast.
Seminary of the Southwest is just north of the University of Texas along Duval between Rathervue Place (East 31st Street) and E. 32nd Street. A visitors parking lot is at the southeast corner of Duval and 32nd with entrance off 32nd. Please note that non-permit parking along streets that circle the seminary is prohibited during daytime hours.
Free parking will be available in the parking lot of the Diocesan Center in Houston. Bring your ticket in to be validated. Please e-mail cbarnwell@epicenter.org if you want to attend to assure adequate space. If you would like to host a site, please contact Carol Barnwell at 713.520.6444.
