The General Convention is the governing body of The Episcopal Church (TEC) that meets every three years. The Convention is a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops. The work at Convention is carried out by deputies and bishops representing each diocese. During its triennial meeting deputies and bishops consider a wide range of important matters facing the Church. Convention has most recently met in Columbus, Ohio in June, 2006.
The Executive Offices of the General Convention support the work of the Committees, Commissions, Agencies and Boards of General Convention (CCABs) that meet during the triennium and also facilitate the planning and operation of each General Convention. This blog will feature postings by your deputies and bishops serving at General Convention. News and reporting from Carol E. Barnwell, diocesan communication director, will also appear here, along with periodic videos and photo galleries. Links to news from the Church Center news staff is also available (see link at right). Every effort will be made to keep you informed and up to date with the happenings at General Convention. Comments/questions, please e-mail cbarnwell@epicenter.org. Twitter is available for breaking news and following resolutions (see below to sign up).
