Survey Developed

Survey developed… The Strategic Planning Committee is seeking opinions from throughout The Episcopal Church. The Strategic Planning Committee was established by Executive Council in January 2009 to develop a strategic plan for the Episcopal Church Center and the Executive Council which addresses mission and ministry, growth, finance, challenges and opportunities, issues and concerns, and to map a way to address all these topics.

The General Convention is the governing body of The Episcopal Church (TEC) that meets every three years. The Convention is a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops. The work at Convention is carried out by deputies and bishops representing each diocese. During its triennial meeting deputies and bishops consider a wide range of important matters facing the Church. Convention has most recently met in Columbus, Ohio in June, 2006.

The Executive Offices of the General Convention support the work of the Committees, Commissions, Agencies and Boards of General Convention (CCABs) that meet during the triennium and also facilitate the planning and operation of each General Convention.
This blog will feature postings by your deputies and bishops serving at General Convention. News and reporting from Carol E. Barnwell, diocesan communication director, will also appear here, along with periodic videos and photo galleries. Links to news from the Church Center news staff is also available (see link at right). Every effort will be made to keep you informed and up to date with the happenings at General Convention. Comments/questions, please e-mail cbarnwell@epicenter.org. Twitter is available for breaking news and following resolutions (see below to sign up).

The Ubuntu logo of the 76th General Convention was designed was by the Rev. Paul Fromberg, St. Gregory of Nyssa Church, San Francisco, California.

The word Ubuntu is an African word the means the essence of being human, of interconnectedness.

The Trinitarian design depicts God the Creator in the bright center, God the Son in the cross formed by the longitude and latitude lines and God the Holy Spirit, swirling around the Father and the Son. The swirl is comprised of dancing figures, male and female, with faces of many colors, who symbolize the interconnectedness of humanity.
